How-to guides → Slack
Feed alerts, in Slack.
Post new entries from any feed or category straight into a Slack channel with an incoming webhook. Four steps, no bot to babysit.
Step 1
Create a Slack incoming webhook
Go to api.slack.com/apps and click Create New App → From scratch. Name it (e.g. "SlashFeed") and pick your workspace. In the app's settings, open Incoming Webhooks, switch it on, and click Add New Webhook to Workspace. Choose the channel that should receive the notifications and copy the webhook URL:
https://hooks.slack.com/services/T000/B000/XXXXXXXX
Treat the URL like a password — it embeds a secret token that lets anyone post to that channel.
Slack app settings on api.slack.com with Incoming Webhooks toggled ON and the webhook list showing one webhook for the target channel, its URL partially blurred, next to the 'Add New Webhook to Workspace' button.

Step 2
Add the channel in SlashFeed
Open Notification Channels in the app and click + Slack. Paste the webhook URL, add a label if you like, and save. For safety, SlashFeed only ever displays the webhook's host — never the full secret URL.
SlashFeed's Notification Channels page with the + Slack form open: label and webhook URL fields filled (URL blurred), and the saved channel row below showing only hooks.slack.com as the host.

Step 3
Send a test
Click the paper-plane icon next to the channel. A test message is posted to Slack immediately — if it fails, the webhook was probably revoked or the URL was pasted incompletely.

Step 4
Attach a rule
Add a rule that binds the channel to a trigger: every new entry, a specific feed, or a whole category. Matching entries are then delivered to Slack in the background, with automatic retries.
SlashFeed's Add rule form with the Slack channel selected and a 'Specific feed' trigger chosen from the dropdown, plus the resulting rule row in the Rules list.
